Liberal Democrat Parliamentary Spokesperson for Streatham Chris Nicholson this week handed in a petition to the Metropolitan Police Authority with 2200 signatures opposing plans to close Streatham and Cavendish Rd (Clapham) police stations.

The Metropolitan Police Authority's Finance Committee is due to consider the Police's Asset Management Strategy which proposes the closures this Thursday.

Chris commented "Residents are rightly furious at this proposal. At a time when there are real concerns about crime in the area it is madness to be even thinking about closing our local police stations. I hope the Police Authority see sense and throw out the plans"
